Description | University of Chicago Chapel cornerstone laying, June 11, 1926 at which philosophy professor James Hayden Tufts delivered an address. A box was placed inside the cornerstone containing copies of John D. Rockefeller's letters about financial endowments and the approval of a chapel, and photographs of him and his son. Coins, university and city publications, and photographs of university presidents Harper, Judson, Burton, and Mason were also added. |
